Distributed Control System (DCS), also known as Distributed Control System, is a decentralized automation system based on microprocessors, integrated application of computer, control, communication and display technology (4C technology). Its core design follows the principle of "decentralized control and centralized management", dispersing control functions to various controllers on site through a distributed network, and being uniformly monitored and coordinated by a central operation station. This system has the characteristics of high reliability, flexible configuration, easy expansion and maintenance, and is widely used in process industries such as petrochemicals, power, metallurgy, and pharmaceuticals. It is an important pillar of modern industrial automation and is being integrated with new technologies such as the Internet of Things and big data, developing towards intelligence and openness.
